Yes Toyota it was a tough challenge. Glad they could come out and say it. It was a difficult and uphill battle for the bean counters to add the power drivers seat for 2020.

Maybe they’ll do a passenger side next year?

Counterpoint: Removing the power seats from my car was the best mod of done to any car. The memory seats unlearning my settings made me hate them, as every time I would unlock the car, it would default the seat. It was maddening.

Given that there arent too many differences between the 2nd and 3rd gen Tacomas.... it might as well be.

At least it got a drivetrain update and a 6th gear , unlike the 4runner.

Oh lord. That sounds like one of the most frustrating minor annoyances imaginable

Toyota has been using those seat switches since the dawn of time

Two million years ago, man stood up, created fire, and Toyota created their seat switches.

The 4 runner only has 5 gears?  Wow, kinda surprised they have such a great market position.

Lol...they’re waiting to see if it catches on.  We had this discussion about Toyota and their reticence to change.  Those switches are identical to the ones on my 07 Tundra...13 years.

Well the market position comes from the fact it’s a body on frame SUV that isnt the size of a school bus.

H owever, that drivetrain has been with us more than a decade. At least the tacoma got the newer V6 as well.

It really doesnt matter since I assume this platform is on its way out in the next 2 or so years

My dad’s absolute top of the line 02 Tundra has a power driver’s seat. Strangely enough, the Sequoia of the same year could have a power passenger seat and got a better center console (also, independent rear climate control in 01!).

But I actually prefer manual seats because it adds lightness and they are much easier to move out of the way when cleaning. The only reason I would ever want power seats would be if it had memory settings and I shared the car frequently. As it is, the passengers can tough it out!

I think I actually prefer manual seats. Getting in my wife’s car is annoying because of how long it takes for the seat to move. We switch the Veloster’s seat position all the time and it’s super quick.

Memory mirrors would be nice though since those still move at a glacial pace.

I guess the manual seat was the one where everyone felt like they were seated on the floor.

Memory is overrated unless you share a car.
